Fabergé Ruby Diamond Presentation Brooch, ca. 1890s
Fabergé Ruby Diamond Presentation Brooch, ca. 1890s
Fabergé Ruby and Diamond Presentation Brooch, ca. 1890s
A rare brooch depicting a blooming cherry blossom twig on a honeycomb background and showing an imperial crown with rubies and diamonds.
This brooch is by the workmaster August Hollming (1854-1913), ca. 1890s, who worked for Fabergé. Peter Carl Fabergé encouraged his work masters to place their identity marks next to his logo on select pieces. The ruby & diamond crown along-with the Japanese cherry blossom motif indicate this may have been an imperial gift. Representing the pinnacle of Russian artisanship, objet d’ art & other small items by Fabergé became popular as gifts by the imperial family & members of the court, especially when travelling abroad. What is wonderful to experience is the buttery soft texture of the gold work & the delicate honeycomb pattern, all adding to the aura that was, is & always will be Fabergé.
